Oil on canvas - (50cm Diameter)
March 2024
This painting captures a moment from a whale watching tour at Nelson Bay that I knew I had to preserve on canvas. The sea was perfectly calm that day, disturbed only by the occasional whale breach or passing vessel. But that's exactly what made it so captivating - this small fishing boat cutting through the serene waters, framed by hills in the distance, created the perfect composition. The instant I pressed the shutter, I felt the urge to recreate this scene in paint. There was something about the tranquil beauty of that moment - the boat's gentle wake against the still water, the layered blues of sea and sky - that I wanted to share with others. Every brushstroke was an attempt to pass along that same sense of peace and wonder I felt standing on the deck that day.
